Me Daddy

I received a mail from my dad last night and while reading his mail, I had tears rolling down my cheek, without me realizing it.

I miss my dad a lot.

He's someone whom I go to when I have problems - studies, financial, personal. He's also the one whom I disturb and irritate most (besides Beng Tack, of course. Hehehe) - when he's watching telly, when he's eating, when he's sleeping, when he's talking. I just love the way he tells me the 'facts of life' which often makes me ponder over his words for hours and days and eventually find that he's right. He said I'm stubborn and rebellious, I've never not agree more with him. But, no matter how stubborn and rebellious I am, he has his ways to make me comply willingly - no beatings, no shouting, no anger. His words, his way of talking, his tone, his facial expression is enough to make me go "okay dad".

I've always look upon him as someone I trust and respect most. He worked his way up the corporate ladder, as an engineer without any degree. He went all the way to Christmas Island to work in his early 20s without much money with him. He remained with one company even though he was given the chance to work for better ones, with higher pay too. But, he never left the company he first joined 20 over years ago - the loyalty value in him that makes me feel proud to have him as my dad.

I wished I had inherited this particular character from him - patience. He's the most patient person I've known, so far. He stands my temper like no one else could. No matter how much tantrum and anger I throw at him, he never once shouted or scolded me. According to mom, he has never beaten me, not even when I was small. He's a dad who is willing to sacrifice anything to ensure the happiness of his children, his family.

Whenever I'm home, and I have nothing to do (or pretend that I have nothing to do), I will bug him to take me out for a ride. And he's always free to do that. He's one of the reasons I'm fat, because he brings me out for food and make me eat even when I'm full after walloping a whole bowl/plate of dish. No matter how fat I am or how sloppy I dress, he always say "you look great" with a big smile. Although, at times he does call me tomboy because I was more into wearing pants and never behaved like a lady. To get even, I call him ‘ketua samseng’ because..... he looks like one :p

He's a person who is down to earth and simple. An engineer who loves fishing, thus he taught me how to appreciate fish and seafood since young. There was once where I got a bone stuck to my throat, he laughed at me and I remember him saying, "small small eat fish, never once happen such thing. Big big d eat fish, only got fish bone stuck to your throat. You ar, weird psychology student" =.=""

Beng Tack once told me that my dad is his biggest competitor, because he knows I love my dad, a lot. Yes, I'm a daddy's girl but I'm proud to be one. I don't think he spoiled me, because I learned a lot from him and I believe I am what I am today mainly because of him - a man I will treasure and cherish, for a lifetime. Not forgetting, he's also the one that I care the most because simply, he's my DAD.

Don't you think he looks like a gangster leader? Hehehe.

Nevertheless,

I love my daddy
=)

First pay in UK

Remember I said I was busy working last two weeks?

I got the receipt for my pay yesterday..

You know why?
Because ar...
I earned my first...
*ahem*

£ 195.50

RM1,000 *jump jump jump*
Siok giler.
Worked three days, talk talk talk, make posters, talk talk talk, attend workshops, bring school students around campus, eat, talk talk talk.
And...
I'm £ 195.50 richer, by doing what I do best - talk (Khoo, 2007). Hehehe.

I think I'm beginning to love my life in UK.
When there's extra money to spend here, life seems so colorful..
I spent money on food that I love.
I spent money on things that I like.
I spent money (or going to spend) on people that I care.

Isn't life wonderful when we have money? :)
No no.
I'm not saying money is everything but I know money is IMPORTANT!
Don't deny and say no ar!
Without money, how to survive la kan?

Happy Birthday to You

Time: 8.00pm
Venue: Chinese Maternity Hospital, Kuala Lumpur
Date: 26.01.1987

A baby boy was born to the Cheah family. The first born son in the family. He was a difficult baby according to his baby sitter, who was strict but caring. Exactly 20 years later, he celebrated his birthday with his *ahem* wonderful *ahem* caring *ahem* loving girlfriend *giggles* All the birthday surprises, gifts and quality time spent with his *ahem* wonderful *ahem* caring *ahem* loving girlfriend is still fresh in their memories, kan? =) Those who wana kaypo, go read yourself la. *click* Hehehe.

1 year later (which is today lah, 26.1.2008), his *ahem* wonderful *ahem* caring *ahem* loving girlfriend is not with him to celebrate such an important day in his life, his 21st birthday. Nevertheless, being his *ahem* wonderful *ahem* caring *ahem* loving girlfriend, she bought him a gift (which she thinks he will love it, a lot). And with the help of people around him, she managed to get them to surprise him on her behalf. Orang tak dak kat sana, tapi hati tetap di Malaysia ma. So *perasan-ness* thoughtful kan?

So, here’s a Birthday greeting
Especially to show How much you mean
Although you surely must know
That without a doubt

There’s no one nicer than you

Or anyone dearer
To wish Happy Birthday to

Happy Birthday

Guess what?
This whole box of sushi was only 75p. MURAH kan?!!
Hehehe.
Of cz murah lah. Reduced to clear mia item.
The cheap place is the 'reduced to clear' shelf in Tesco.
Damn sad rite? Come all the way here to buy reduced to clear stuff.
But, what to do? Me no money.

today

... was such an eventful day for me.

About 12pm..
Queen: Mel, I finished work d.
Mel: Ha? So fast?
Queen: Yealor. I'm coming back now. You want me to buy anything? From Tesco?
Mel: Hmm, anything la. Groceries or smth.
Queen: Ok. "I'm coming back now. Cook first okay, I'm hungry."
Mel: Oh, ok.

Then since Queen is hungry, I quickly went to kitchen and see what I can cook lor. Don't have anything much and I thought, okaylah just cook some burger meat and some spaghetti lor. I went and heat up the oven with the ceramic bowl in it. Then, I wanted to put in the burger meat when the oven is hot enough lor.

I opened the door, then the rubber (the door there got rubber wan, you know that rubber la) memang loose d wan la all these while. But, it was sticking perfectly when I saw it, so I thought someone came to fix it. And then ar, just when I was about to put the burger into the ceramic bowl, that STUPID CILAKA rubber just slide down a little (it was loose d wan ma) and my hand was beneath it. Apa lagi? Dahlah hot, it's rubber some more. Kena my hand surely burn wan la. Hoiyo... Then I straight away pulled my hand away and went to the sink to run it under the cold tap water (I was ONCE a first aider, okay?). Then I got so mad, I didn't want to cook burger anymore!

I off the stupid oven and went to cook spaghetti. And mashed potato. After cooking, I waited and waited and waited. Queen still tak balik lagi. Waited till my spaghetti also kembang already. The spaghetti serap-ed all the soup. Then I thought I will eat first lor then leave her part for her.

Then, after that our Queen reached home and guess what? She bought rice! I heard wrongly over the phone. She said, "I'm hungry but don't cook yet. Wait for me to come home. "
O_________O

I shouldn't have cooked. Then I wouldn't have burnt my hand! Huhuhu.. Damn sad okay? My hand. Gone lah. Sure got scar wan. And ar, according to Anwari, got scar very macho.

Very macho meh?
Haiyo. I'm a girl tau. Apa macho macho!

Notice the small burnt mark. That one was another scar I got from the same exact incident, but on a different day. 2 scars from that bloody oven! Oh, and I was wondering if I can sue the accommodation people for this. Since the ang mohs like to sue people for everything, why can't I, right? McD got sued for millions of dollars for causing a someones' lips to burnt while he was drinking a hot tea/coffee ordered from McD. Like that also can sue, my scar like that, so BIG and long cannot sue meh? I've thought of it liao. I got my points.

1. These scars cause pain and long term emotional distress.
2. These scars look very ugly on my hand and it does not however symbolizes macho-ness, to me.
3. These scars look very ugly, and it might look ugly to other people as well.
4. These ugly looking scars might scare other people away (i.e. potential husband/partner).
5. If these ugly scars scare all my potential husband/partner away, how am I going to get married?
6. If don't get married, how to give birth?
7. If don't give birth, I'm no longer maximizing my reproduction of offspring as according to evolutionary psychology.
8. If I don't maximize the reproduction of offspring, I don't get to contribute to the human population.
9. If this happens, I will be very upset. Because I don't have anyone to teman me in my life.
10. And this can cause emotional distress which might lead to mental disorder.

VALID enough d kua?
10 VALID & STRONG arguements, *day dreaming* 1 million POUNDS considered not too bad la kan? :)

Lipbalms

I was complaining to my mom regarding the unsuitable lipbalm I bought here in UK. I have sensitive lips and skin btw, so the lipbalm I use needs to suit me. Or else, my lips will feel itchy (maybe come to UK d lagi itchy cz got no boyfriend (Kan, 2007 =.="""), or sometimes if use those cheapskate unsuitable ones, it can even be swollen. Dahsyat kan? Anyway, mom said she will buy the lipbalm I normally use back home and send it to me because I can't find the brand here. I waited and waited. She tak hantar pun. So, since our dear Yong Tze went back to KL, I thought of asking her to buy for me. So, I asked my mom not to buy anymore but she said she bought already wor. Haven't sent only. So, ok lor. She said she'll send and then few days back, I received

This is my second time receiving a parcel here, and this is also the second time these people (FedEx and DHL workers) wrote my name wrongly! From Melissa I became Marlisa to Melinda =.=" (If you noticed, I've been using that =.=" lately. Because, I just learned how to use it! Haha).

Knew it was from my mom, opened the package and guess what I saw? LIPBALMS la of cz!! Ah, I can't live without it, seriously. It's like my, dahling. Damn happy, okay? But when I saw how many batangs she sent, I seriously doubt that she wants me to go home this September.

Mummy ar mummy, I'm going home in September leh! You think I can finish using all these 12 batangs in 9 months meh!?

If "let says" (Wong, 2006) I use on average ONE batang for TWO months, I will need 24 months before I finish all these! You really dowan to see me for 2 years meh? :(

And then ar, I tell you what my mom did. She ar, hoiyo.. She bought 12 lipbalms also nvm la. One lipbalm is RM12.90. She sapu-ed 12 (I think she sapu the whole Guardian's lipbalm). Then to send the things to me, which weighs only 0.5kg, DHL charged RM256! I mean, come on... It's only 500 grams and its RM256?!! Mahal gila. Celaka betul DHL. And my mom also so willingly paid that amount. Aduh, if I knew it was going to be this expensive to send, I would have asked Yong to buy la!

So,
RM12.90 X 12 =RM154.80
o.5kg = RM256
RM 256 + RM 154.80 = RM410.80
RM410.80/12 = RM34.233333 PER batang!!
Damn mahal lor =.=""

Edinburgh, Scotland - Part 3

The last morning there, we visited the Camera Obscura. The entrance fee was £7.50 and I personally feel that it was worth it. Camera Obscura sounds so, camera-ish, kan? But trust me, it's not merely about camera or lenses or how camera functions. It's about optical illusions and tricks of lenses, mirrors, spins and flashes. Once we entered, we were brought into a small dark room with a large concaved dish and a long black metal in the middle. The metal is actually to control/move the lenses that were designed in 1850. What's so special about these old lenses is that it can actually show real pictures of the outside surrounding onto the concaved dish WITHOUT any camera or computer. So, it's practically some big gigantic kinda telescope that projects real moving images onto the screen! And we can even see real people walking nearby the entrance to the castle. Oh, and we managed to pick people (those who were walking near the entrance to the castle) up off the street! using a paper. Like, literally picking them up using a paper!! How cool is that? Damn chunted lor.

After being amazed with the picking-human beings-up-off-the-street-using-a-paper trick, we went to look around at the view of Edinburgh using telescopes.

That's Queen trying to observe her citizens.

There are actually many interesting and fun things inside, but I'll only show a few. malaslah

Suahpah moments 1 - Water and fishes
Have a look at this picture.

Can you see water? What about fishes? Got right? What about those two shoes? Ada kan?
It's an image on the floor. Like those image projected by computer or something. What's cool about this thing is that, it's just an IMAGE, BUT when you step/walk across it, the fishes will swim away from your feet, and there will be those water noises like someone is walking across a pool of water. Those 'splish splash' kinda sound. Images on the floor can make noise. And move! HOW COOL CAN THAT BE?

Suahpah moments 2 - Thin Mirror
Focus on the Ikan Bilis legs of ours.

I've NEVER been so thin in my life. NEVER!

Suahpah moments 3 - Fat & Elongated Hand Mirror

Suahpah moments 4 - Fat & Elongated Forehead Mirror
This might cause nightmare to some people, so view at your own risk okay?!

Damn yeng! Hahaha.

We also saw the crystal ball that those witches in movies will use. Those balls that can generate powers want ar!
Suahpah moments 5 - Crystal Ball

The beautiful witch in the making.

Introducing my guru, the old senior witch.

Besarnya Bola O___O

They have long long want also. The electricity will follow your hand movements want. Yeng hor?

Suahpah moments 6 - Bayang Bayang 3 warna

Mel: Yong ar, you do the love shape, the shadow so small. Cannot see the different colours leh.
Yong: Then how to make the colors visible leh?
Mel: Aya, come I show you.

Mel: Nonit so bersopan wan la. Angkat tangan angkat kaki also I don't mind want.

Walk walk walk, then we saw another shadow thingy. This want lagi gaya.
Suahpah moments 7 - Sticking shadow
There's a screen in front, you stand with any pose you like. Ask someone to press a red button at the side. Wait a few seconds and there will be a flash capturing your pose. Then you walk away. And what is left is your shadow on the screen. Your shadow is sticked to the screen!

Mel and Queen's bitchy sexy pose!

Suahpah moments 8 - Face Changing Mirror
This one damn siok. Two people sit opposite each other. There's a mirror in between and a button to control the lighting. The two person need to adjust their face so that their eyes are aligned with the other person's eye. At this moment, you can see your own face. And then, press the button and the next thing you can see is the face of the person in front of you, with your body! O___O Bertukar muka. MAK OI!!

Finally, I saw this drawing of Uncle Freud. Took a picture of it, especially for PSYCHOLOGY students.

So true, kan? Hahaha. Hamsap lou.

We spent some time in the Obscura, playing like some jungle people. But there's very few pictures of the fun things inside because we were too obsessed with the illusions. Every time we see something, we'll go "wah!" "omg!" "Eh, eh, come see this" "How come?" "Wahlau eh" Damn suahpah. But, what to do. The illusions and tricks are really that good. Anyone planning to visit this Eh-din-bra city, don't forget to go to Camera Obscura, okay?

After that, we went to a scarf factory but there wasn't anything interesting. Only those machines and materials. Luckily free entrance. If not kena tipu, again. We took less than 5 minutes to complete the tour in the factory. You can guess how boring it was.

After that less than 5 minutes tour, we walked all the way down the street to Holyrood Palace.

Palace where the Queen will stay during the summer when she comes down to Edinburgh. in other words, it's MY summer house lah.

The entrance fee damn mahal, okay? £8.50. Second most expensive after the Castle. Why lah? Why do I even bother paying so much to visit my own house? :p The whole palace is so freaking big. The Queen needs two different rooms for drawing - morning and evening drawing room *shakes head* Once again, we were conned! We paid so much to enter my own house, also nvm. Paid so much but not having anything to see besides bed, chairs, tables, some collections, paintings, carpets, and those normal furnitures you have at home! I can see all that at home also lah! And no cameras are allowed inside the palace. So, can't even take photos. Can see only. And they charge us so much. Celaka betul. Tipu my money, AGAIN!

That's all. That's basically almost everything that we saw excluding the furnitures! =.="
There's a park, and I was so happy that at least I get to go to the park and snap pictures of the green padang.

This padang. So green hor? So happy and excited when I saw the padang. Wana go and lie on the grass and snap pictures!

BUT..................

It's only open during summer!
MEMANG PENIPU!!

After being cheated, we went for late lunch. That time it was already 4pm. My last meal in Edinburgh was satisfying.
Nachos courtesy of Imperial Millionaire.

My Haddock Fish.
Ah, fabuloso.

At least, this meal made my day after got conned into paying so much for nothing. Few more hours before leaving the city were spent walking around and sitting in McDonalds while waiting for our bus. Another 9 hours of horrible bus ride, but I felt nothing at all because I was too tired and exhausted that I fell asleep as soon as the bus started moving. That was the end of our 4 days trip to Edinburgh, Scotland. I came back from Scotland to my small tiny room (never missed this room so much before) with priceless experience and knowledge as well as dry skin and lips like a snake and not forgetting new friends, who entertained us throughout the trip with their stupid and silly jokes. The total damage to my papa's pocket for this trip was approximately £150. Not bad la hor?

Edinburgh, Scotland - Part 2

The night activity I was talking about in my earlier post is a guided tour into the a graveyard and old abandon prison. £6.50 for students and we were prepared for a deadly and terrifying experience ever. The tour guide was a lady, dressed in black and was pretty... scary (she shouted out of nowhere) Firstly, she brought us to the entrance of St. Giles Cathedral and she told us the history behind this church. And the parking lot where we were standing was formerly a graveyard and all those scary stories. She even picked people to demonstrate how they were tortured if they were suspected to be a witch (in the olden days la). And I was one of them =.=" She made me scream (although it wasn't loud cz I'm a very *ahem* soft spoken person) and she popped a 'mercun' kinda thing. I believe it's a round thing that will produce a loud 'POP' sound when it's pulled and followed by a small fire. She was holding my thumb and while telling how I was tortured years back because my mother was a 'witch', she popped that thing beside my thumb! I got shocked, okay? Got fire some more. Excuse me aunty Rosie, I was wearing a glove tau! What if the fire burn my glove ha? Ish ish.

But, yea lah. Then she continue her stories and then we walked to the Greyfriars Kirk's graveyard, where Rosie locked the main entrance to the graveyard to make sure none of us could escape at any time. Quite scary also la. Everywhere you turn, you see
this...
and this...

everywhere also tombs.

and bear in mind, it's not this bright as seen in this picture. Sun sets at 4pm, and by 8pm you can imagine how dark it would be.

Standing beneath the land of dead bodies, listening to ghost stories, without much light.. and it was cold because it was drizzling. Isn't that scary? After many man
y ghost stories and warnings (in case anyone of us were possessed or disturbed by the thing), we were brought into the old abandoned prison. By that time, the rain got heavier and Rosie asked us to enter this small cell, where it was pitch dark and she started telling us the eeriness of each corner in the room. Suddenly, someone wearing a mask came out from nowhere and scare us. Cis! Then, she brought us to this small building and told us that the inner part of the building is very scary and she asked us to have a peek if we want and the tour ended. We looked at each other, feeling cheated. £ 6.50 to listen to ghost stories, which wasn't that scary. Not wanted to feel cheated, I took a peek into the small building, hoping to see some kinda scary image,

but.... all I saw was this!
Apa ini? Very scary meh! Haiyer, tipu my money.
City of The Dead - Deadly, Terrifying, Scary... NOT!

We walked out of the graveyard (it was still raining), planning to go home because of the rain but we realized the rain that was pouring wasn't rain! It was...

Can you see the white thingy falling from the sky?!!
Not water droplets...
It was snow!! Like, S.N.O.W!!!! SALJI!!!

Oklah, I lied. Not snow also la. It was some frosted flakes sajer. But but, it was really like small small droplets of snow!!

See...

See...seeee...
See...see....seeee....
When we saw frosted flakes on the wall also we showed our uluness already, imagine we saw frosted flakes or our version of snow falling from the sky! up above our heads! Lagilah the ulu. Hahaha. We were playing with the 'snow'. Snapping pictures. Posing here and there. Shouting. Laughing. All in the graveyard. I think, if there was ever any ghosts in there, we would have scare them away with our suahpahness. Lol.

Take 1 - in the graveyard.. Imperial Millionaire's camera very the high tech. Can make those spooky effect. See, the whole graveyard is dark, only the back part is bright. Canggih kan?

Take 2 - By this time, there was another bunch of people coming for the deadly, terrifying and scary tour but we didn't bother. We were so into snapping picture, laughing and playing with the snow. Yes, yes, I know. Suahpahness.

Not only suah pah, these people wana show that they are some terrorist some more.

Ayoyo, 5 ekor orang terrorist.. In the graveyard. In case you didn't realize, I'm not one of them :)

After spending some time there, we walked back but stopped at various places to take pictures. All siok sendiri mia pictures. Hahaha.

We were seriously so suahpah till people offered to help us snap picture because we were all siok sendiri-ing. Hehehe.

I like this picture. Because, can see the 'snow' falling. Ah, snow...

Finally, after we were all satisfied we went back and then the journey for our third day begins at 10am. We followed a free tour around where they brought us (using our legs, okay?) to famous-must-visit places around Edinburgh. Oh yea, I was pretty amazed that all their tourist attraction places are walking distance from one another. It's all located in the Royal Mile and Princess Street. You can walk everywhere (some needs longer time though, like 45 minutes) but it is possible to walk without dying or breaking your leg.

After the tour ended, we walked all the way to Calton Hill where we had to walk/hike up this small slope to reach the top of the hill with magnificent view of Edinburgh.

Nice rite? So peaceful... So windy.. So green... I love green padang where I can lie down and take picture during summer :)

Queen: You love green padang, means you don't love me anymore la? Ok lah then. I go find something else to love *look around* Ah, I found my love! DAHLING....

:P

Ginna & Orang London: *runs around the tree ala ala Bollywood*
I thought they came out from jungle, manatau see pokok also so suahpah...

Orang London got bored with the tree dance and hence decided to do his famous bitchy pose.

This time complete with ladies bag. Not only, but two!

O__O

It was so peaceful up there...when it's too peaceful, this is what happens..

Bangga giler la after we all panjat up the thing. Pose here and there. Like managed to climb Mount Kinabalu saja.

By the time we finished climbing like some monkeys, it was already dark. So, we went to get some souvenirs and then walk around some fun fair area, had dinner then balik to our wonderful hoStel. Another day ahead of us before we leave this ang moh soil.
