Me Daddy

I received a mail from my dad last night and while reading his mail, I had tears rolling down my cheek, without me realizing it.

I miss my dad a lot.

He's someone whom I go to when I have problems - studies, financial, personal. He's also the one whom I disturb and irritate most (besides Beng Tack, of course. Hehehe) - when he's watching telly, when he's eating, when he's sleeping, when he's talking. I just love the way he tells me the 'facts of life' which often makes me ponder over his words for hours and days and eventually find that he's right. He said I'm stubborn and rebellious, I've never not agree more with him. But, no matter how stubborn and rebellious I am, he has his ways to make me comply willingly - no beatings, no shouting, no anger. His words, his way of talking, his tone, his facial expression is enough to make me go "okay dad".

I've always look upon him as someone I trust and respect most. He worked his way up the corporate ladder, as an engineer without any degree. He went all the way to Christmas Island to work in his early 20s without much money with him. He remained with one company even though he was given the chance to work for better ones, with higher pay too. But, he never left the company he first joined 20 over years ago - the loyalty value in him that makes me feel proud to have him as my dad.

I wished I had inherited this particular character from him - patience. He's the most patient person I've known, so far. He stands my temper like no one else could. No matter how much tantrum and anger I throw at him, he never once shouted or scolded me. According to mom, he has never beaten me, not even when I was small. He's a dad who is willing to sacrifice anything to ensure the happiness of his children, his family.

Whenever I'm home, and I have nothing to do (or pretend that I have nothing to do), I will bug him to take me out for a ride. And he's always free to do that. He's one of the reasons I'm fat, because he brings me out for food and make me eat even when I'm full after walloping a whole bowl/plate of dish. No matter how fat I am or how sloppy I dress, he always say "you look great" with a big smile. Although, at times he does call me tomboy because I was more into wearing pants and never behaved like a lady. To get even, I call him ‘ketua samseng’ because..... he looks like one :p

He's a person who is down to earth and simple. An engineer who loves fishing, thus he taught me how to appreciate fish and seafood since young. There was once where I got a bone stuck to my throat, he laughed at me and I remember him saying, "small small eat fish, never once happen such thing. Big big d eat fish, only got fish bone stuck to your throat. You ar, weird psychology student" =.=""

Beng Tack once told me that my dad is his biggest competitor, because he knows I love my dad, a lot. Yes, I'm a daddy's girl but I'm proud to be one. I don't think he spoiled me, because I learned a lot from him and I believe I am what I am today mainly because of him - a man I will treasure and cherish, for a lifetime. Not forgetting, he's also the one that I care the most because simply, he's my DAD.

Don't you think he looks like a gangster leader? Hehehe.

Nevertheless,

I love my daddy
=)
